Waitrose is adding a new own-label range to its offer following double-digit growth in single bottles of world beers over the past year.
It is rolling out a German Pils and Czech Pilsner (rsp: £1.89/500ml) as well as a Belgian Blonde beer (rsp: £1.79/330ml) in November. It is also launching premium branded world beers, including Icelandic Einstök white ale (rsp: £1.99/330ml), and extending its local and regional craft beer range with lines like Windsor & Eton’s Republika Pilsner lager. It will also stock an alcoholic fiery ginger beer at 4% abv (rsp: £1.95/500ml).
Though poor weather had hit world beer, particularly larger packs, single bottles were up 12% year-on-year, it said.
Waitrose is also adding two own-label top-tier ciders in November under its From Waitrose brand - a still Herefordshire cider and a Cidre de Normandie (both rsp: £2.29/500ml). And it hopes to tap the popularity of flavoured white spirits with Bombay Sapphire East London dry gin (rsp: £35/1litre), Sipsmith Damson vodka and a new Heston From Waitrose Earl Grey & Lemon London dry gin (rsp: £22/70cl).
