Waitrose has relaunched its Wine Tasting at Home service in-person after two years of running it virtually because of Covid guidelines.
The concept teaches customers about the fundamentals of wine tasting without having to leave their homes.
“We know how much our customers enjoyed our drinks experiences, from gin and cocktails to wine tasting, which is why it was important to us to be able to continue these virtually over the past two years,” said Waitrose drinks experiences manager Andrew Riding.
“But now in-person tastings are back and we are delighted to bring these experiences to people in their own homes.”
The service, which costs £35 per person, will continue to run virtually as well.
As part of it, Waitrose delivers six bottles of wine prior to the tasting so that customers can sample them during the session. An expert partner will be on hand to guide the guests through each wine, whilst providing information on food and wine pairings.
To help with demand, Waitrose has trained up nearly 50 Waitrose colleagues by supporting them through their Level 2 Wine Spirit Education Trust (WSET) qualifications.
In-person gin and cocktail experiences are also available, as well as a spirits masterclass.
