Waitrose has formed a wine partnership with the publisher of The Daily Telegraph after the newspaper group ended its nine-year relationship with Averys of Bristol.
Telegraph Wine from Waitrose will offer an “extended” range including exclusively curated wine cases in association with Telegraph wine correspondents, exclusive Waitrose wines, spirits and the ability to click and collect from a Waitrose branch.
Readers of The Daily Telegraph and The Sunday Telegraph will be able to buy from a bespoke and exclusive range, take out a monthly or quarterly wine plan and have access to exclusive promotions and special offers.
Newspaper journalists will provide expert selections, tasting notes and specially curated mixed cases.
The partnership will include improvements to the selection of wines, the delivery and collection service and loyalty benefits for wine plan holders, according to Telegraph Media Group (TMG).
“We are very pleased to be embarking on this new partnership and know that our excellent range of wines will be a natural fit for The Telegraph’s discerning audience,” said Waitrose’s head of online trading Robert McCarthy.
Barry Wyse, director of commerce at TMG, said: “We are delighted to announce this new wine partnership with Waitrose today. Telegraph Wine from Waitrose will allow our readers even greater choice of wines and spirits as well as the convenience of collecting Telegraph Wine orders from a Waitrose shop.”
