Waitrose has partnered with matcha challenger brand PerfectTed to add new matcha-based drinks to its in-store café menu.
The two new hot Matcha Lattes began rolling in the first of Waitrose’s 127 in-store cafes this week. It initially includes two flavours: a Strawberry Matcha Latte and a Vanilla Matcha Latte, priced at £3.95 each.
“We’re so excited to be working with PerfectTed to offer matcha drinks in our cafés for the first time,” said Rachel Dowsett, Waitrose head of food service.
“Matcha is becoming more and more popular, and we want to make sure our customers can enjoy high-quality, trend-led, delicious drinks. This partnership is a great way for customers to try our amazing matcha selection before buying it in-store.”
Waitrose already stocks multipacks of PerfectTed’s sparkling Matcha energy drinks and Matcha Powder Sachets. Single chilled cans of the energy drink were also one of the launch products when Waitrose rolled out its first ever lunchtime meal deal in 2023.
It’s the latest addition to Waitrose’s hospitality offer following the launch of a new café format with coffee chain Caffè Nero in December, which also supplies Waitrose’s instore coffee stations.
That followed the opening of a ‘store within a store’ bakery counter run by high street baker Gail’s at Waitrose’s Canary Wharf store in May 2024.
