There’s a Beer For That decamped to the Waitrose store in Petersfield, Hampshire on Friday and Saturday for the initiative’s first in-store beer and food matching event.
Shoppers were given the chance to sample a menu of six festive foods, accompanied by six beers of different styles, with Waitrose beer specialist Mike North on hand to talk about the choices.
The pairings included Curious Brew with smoked salmon blinis, Fuller’s ESB with beef Wellington, and Meantime London Stout with chocolate tiffin slice.
It follows other activity between the retailer and There’s a Beer For That in recent months, including the distribution of branded cardboard beer carriers, and a feature in the Waitrose Christmas drinks list.
“Working with Waitrose is a genuinely perfect partnership for both sides - There’s A Beer For That can reach a new audience of food and drink enthusiasts, which really highlights the quality, diversity and versatility of the beer category,” said There’s a Beer For That marketing lead Neil Gannon.
“Mike North is the perfect host for the series and really brings to life the possibilities of food and beer pairing to Waitrose customers.”
