Waitrose has launched its largest ever organic food and drink promotion with all 137 stores offering discounts on more than 100 own label and branded organic lines in October and November.
Waitrose has previously pledged to maintain premium pricing on organics.
However, the multiple insisted the promotion was a temporary measure designed to attract more customers to its organic range and did not alter its organic pricing strategy. All organic meat, dairy and produce promotions will also feature food sourced entirely from the UK.
Angela Megson, director of buying, explained: “Waitrose has significantly increased the proportion of seasonal organic products we source in the UK.”
Waitrose says it sells 1,500 lines of organic food and drink, worth about £2.7m per week.
