Bespoke Foods, which distributes brands including French’s mustards and Thai Taste, is launching three Vietnamese lines into 258 Waitrose stores from 3 December under new brand Nem Viet.
As a lighter, fresher alternative to Chinese and Thai food Vietnamese is tipped as a big new trend in retail (The Grocer, World Foods Focus On, 17 November).
The range comprises a Pho kit (rsp: £2.49) containing the ingredients for the broth seen as the national dish of Vietnam a spring roll kit (rsp: £2.49) and a dipping sauce (rsp: £1.39).
New direct flights from Gatwick to Ho Chi Minh city helped boost interest in Vietnamese, added Bespoke Foods.
