Waitrose’s temperature-controlled click and collect lockers are being trialled by staff at its Bracknell HQ, the retailer said today.
The test follows a three-month trial of a drive-through click and collect service at five Waitrose stores.
Shoppers who order food on Waitrose’s website will receive a text message with a PIN number giving them access to their locker. The service will be free if the purchase is over £50, and an order placed before 11.45am can be collected the next day.
“Collection lockers will unlock the potential to reach customers in locations where we don’t have a shop and which are very convenient, such as on the way home from work or the school run,” said Waitrose’s director of ecommerce Robin Phillips.
Waitrose’s online sales rose 50.1% year-on-year during the quarter ending 27 April.
