Walmart has announced plans to ramp up its presence on an enormous logistics park in China.
Gazeley will build another three warehouses for the retailer totalling 600,000 sq ft, which will sit beside Walmart’s 450,000 sq ft North China RDC and a 250,000 sq ft North China RDC for Nestlé. The project is set for completion in 2014.
“Walmart is pleased to deliver world-class warehouse facilities into the rapidly growing Tianjin market,” said vice president of real estate development for Walmart Asia Joe Allbright. “The partnership between Beichen High-Tech Park, Gazeley, and Walmart has been essential to our success.” Sally Lin, country director of Gazeley China said: “We are delighted to continue our work with Walmart.”
Walmart chose the Tianjin area because of its proximity to the regional seaport, road and rail network. It is also 15km from Tianjin city centre and easily accessible to all points in Greater Beijing. Gazeley has developed schemes across China for a range of global and domestic customers since 2008.
