Nrich milk drink and Carib Lager have struck a deal to sponsor celebrity football tournament Soccer Six.
The brands, owned by world food and drinks distributor Wanis International, will appear on pitch-side banners and promotional material for the event, which takes place at Charlton FC on 18 May.
Celebrities lining up to take part in this year’s Soccer Six include Olly Murs, Sam Bailey, Ray Quinn, Mark Wright, Tinchy Stryder, Omid Djalili and Brit Award winner Ella Eyre.
“As the nation gets ready for a footballing and sporting bonanza, our association with Soccer Six is a great way to get ready for the summer, and make a big splash,” said Jag Singh, marketing manager at Wanis. “The high-profile stars and the strong branding and engagement opportunities our association with Soccer Six offers will put Nrich and Carib firmly on the map, so we can continue to build on the awareness throughout the year.”
Wanis is also holding a series of charitable events to mark its 50th year of trading, including 10k runs by company directors Sanjay and Kapil Wadhwani and a ‘£1 for 1lbs’ diet programme by staff.
The company is aiming to raise £50,000 to be split among five charities: the African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust (ACLT); Guru Nanak Trust, Home for the Disabled, India; Leyton Orient Community Sports Programme, London; St Anne’s Church, Greenwich Town, Jamaica; and Waltham Forest Cinema Trust, London.
“It is very special for a business, especially a family business, to celebrate its 50th anniversary. Since this is such an important milestone, we all wanted to pull together to celebrate the occasion by giving something back to the communities that have helped us to grow,” said MD Sanjay Wadhwani.
