Scottish rugby union player Finn Russell is among those to have backed Puresport

A functional wellness brand founded by two former rugby players has raised £3.6m to support domestic and global expansion plans.

Puresport has secured the fresh funding after a raise led by Redrice Ventures and Five Seasons Ventures (FSV), with further backing from existing investors including current rugby internationals Ben Earl and Finn Russell.

Redrice Ventures has previously backed consumer brands including Castore and Ocean Bottle, while FSV has invested in health-focused scale-ups such as Dash Water, Yfood and Butternut Box in the past.

Puresport – founded in 2018 by ex-rugby union stars Adam Ashe and Grayson Hart – said it would use the funds to “accelerate global expansion, launch new science-led supplements, and grow its community-led wellness ecosystem”.

The brand began life as a CBD supplier before pivoting to performance nutrition. Its current lineup includes hydration blends, adaptogenic mushrooms and creatine, which are sold mainly via DTC.

“This investment provides the muscle we need to build a category-defining brand that people feel like they belong to,” said Puresport CEO Daniel Temm. “We have a plan to scale – in the UK, the US, and beyond – while staying profitable and true to our purpose. But our real goal is to build something that lasts – a brand that shapes the future of performance nutrition, one that people wear proudly, shout about, and feel connected to.”

Robert Senior, founding partner at Redrice, added: “We’re backing Puresport because it’s building an authentic brand for the long run rather than just chasing trends. In a market crowded with quick fixes and short-term hacks, Puresport stands out to us for its integrity, ambition, and community-led approach.”

The raise brings total investment in Puresport to date to more than £5m.
