Shropshire supermarket chain Morris Foods has been taken over by West Midlands Co-op for an undisclosed sum. The supermarket chain  which is part of Morris and Company  has seven stores and employs 430 staff, all of which will be retained. Four other divisions  lubricants, property, care and leisure  are also unaffected by the sale. Ben Reid chief executive of the Co-op, said: "This is an excellent group of well run stores and we are delighted to be purchasing them. Their acquisition will further strengthen our own food division and the development of a larger group will bring new opportunities. "The Co-op is a leading employer in the region and we look forward to welcoming a considerable number of new staff members to the Co-op family." {{NEWS }}
