Devon’s Westaways sausages and cidermaker Thatchers, which is based in Somerset, have teamed up to launch a sausage that is quintessentially West Country.
The pork, apple and cider sausages - which will be co-branded - go on sale in about 13,000 indies from 17 June, with listings in Tesco to follow at the end of the month (rsp: £2.69 for 400g).
The launch marks the first time Thatchers has licensed its brand outside of the alcoholic drinks category. MD Martin Thatcher said the partnership with Westaways would “help establish the ideal pairing of cider with food” and “help drive consumers to the cider fixture for their barbecue purchases” during the summer months.
