Westons is expanding its ‘craft cider in a can’ Caple Rd with a second variant, Blend No 5 Dry.
Like the original product, which launched last February, No 5 is hitting the on-trade first, with an off-trade launch following later this year.
“Caple Rd Dry has been designed to challenge cider drinkers’ palettes, in terms of both the liquid and the packaging,” said Westons cidermaker Guy Lawrence. “Both Caple Rd ciders are slowly fermented for up to 18 months, which is what gives the ciders their highly complex, full-bodied flavours.”
Sales of Westons’ flagship brand, Henry Westons Vintage, are up 19.4% to £25.6m [Nielsen 52 w/e 10 October 2015].
