Westons cider has slashed its annual fuel costs by nearly £50,000 and reduced water consumption following the installation of a high-tech water treatment system.
The Spirax Sarco Reverse Osmosis (RO) system reduces fuel and energy consumption by cutting the use of boiler equipment, saving on fuel, water and boiler treatment chemicals.
Westons said it had seen a “step-change” in control and efficiency.
“Before the RO system was installed, it would take our engineer approximately three days to strip down the boiler, do any work needed, then put it back together again and get it steaming,” said Westons Cider’s engineering manager Jason Roberts. “It now takes a little over a day.”
