Whitley Neill is mounting a challenge to non-alcoholic Gordon’s and Tanqueray with its own non-alcoholic spirit.
The Halewood Artisanal Spirits-owned brand has launched a quartet of non-alcoholic Whitley Neill 0.0 drinks in Raspberry, Rhubarb & Ginger, Blood Orange, and Classic Spiced Dry flavours.
They are made using the brand’s core gin, which is then de-alcoholised with a spinning cone vacuum column still. Whitley Neill said because this method boiled the liquid at a lower temperature, it helped to “retain the distinctive flavours and characteristic top notes of Whitley Neill”.
“Over the last couple of years we’ve seen more and more consumers seeking to moderate their overall alcohol consumption,” said Halewood marketing director Rachel Adams, adding Whitley Neill was “in prime place to fulfil this demand by offering a great tasting alcohol-free alternative to some of our most popular variants”.
The drinks hit Sainsbury’s this month (rsp: £22/70cl).
Sales of non-alcoholic spirits have skyrocketed over past years. Over the 52 weeks to 20 February 2022, for instance, sales grew by £12.2m to £16.4m – a 285.8% gain [Kantar].
