Organic supplier Kallo Foods is buying two leading organic brands from rival Whole Earth Foods as it continues to expand in the UK.
Pan-European Kallo will take on the Whole Earth Foods and Gusto herbal soft drinks brands which have a turnover of £8.2m.
The sale will leave Whole Earth Foods to focus on its "premium organic" Green & Black's chocolate and ice cream lines. Its marketing director Mark Palmer said the company would be renamed Green & Black's when the sale is completed at the end of February.
He said: "An opportunity arose to sell Whole Earth Foods at a time we wanted to put more money and resources behind Green & Black's, which is growing 50% year-on-year."
G&B's was relaunched at a cost of £1.5m last year. This year it has a £2m marketing package.
Kallo sales and marketing director Paul Yeates said: "Whole Earth Foods is a good fit with what we have already. We are now going to have a good look at both brands."
