Scottish wholesaler JW Filshill has put a 50-case cap on click & collect orders and plans to roll out ‘sneeze screens’ across its KeyStore shops this weekend as part of new measures in its fight against coronavirus.

Customers have also been warned delivery times will now be a day later than usual as the wholesaler struggles to meet increased demand.

Craig Brown, retail sales director, said the new plans would address replenishment issues, the main pressure currently facing the company.

New accounts are no longer being accepted and delivery times have increased to 48 hours. Orders placed on a Friday may not arrive with retailers until Monday.

Social distancing floor vinyl and ‘sneeze screens’ for KeyStore outlets are to be installed over the weekend.

“We have a clear business continuity plan in place that we are implementing in a phased manner to allow us to react to government daily advice,” said Brown.

“We’ve been working very closely with our suppliers so we can get deliveries out across the KeyStore estate, delivered customers, key accounts and through our click & collect facility at the depot in Hillington.

“Everyone at Filshill is going that extra mile to ensure we provide the best possible service to our customers. Some staff are working from home and others have been deployed to other parts of the business to ensure as few disruptions as possible to the supply chain.

“It really is a massive, ongoing team effort,” he added
