Wholesaler Parfetts has seen turnover for the year ending June 2020 jump by 26% to £474m, The Grocer can reveal.
Joint-MD Greg Suszczenia told The Grocer the coronavirus pandemic had resulted in three years’ worth of intended sales growth in just one year.
The wholesaler had originally targeted a 6% sales increase for the year with the aim of hitting £400m. It is now looking to top £500m for the current financial year.
Parfetts has also added 150 stores to its Go Local symbol group this year, taking it to 650 in total.
Suczczenia said the latest weekly figures show sales of £10m-£11m across its seven branches, up 40% compared with the same time last year.
The wholesaler is currently investing £1.5m into its infrastructure and facilities. It is extending its Aintree and Sheffield depots in order to accommodate a delivered operation.
Suszczenia said it was also adding 26 new lorries to its current 40-strong fleet in January.
“We are still extremely happy with our performance,” said Suszczenia. “Our sales growth has been down to huge growth in our delivered business throughout the year, together with an enjoyable shopping experience for those who still enjoy shopping the shelves.
“Our delivered service is second to none, which means that this custom is staying with us.”
