English and Welsh wines have become the latest focus in Tesco's bid to stock more local products in its stores.
The retailer is listing five new wines, which will be available in stores close to the vineyards where they are produced. They join five English and Welsh wines that are already stocked.
"Thanks to strong support from our local buying teams, I am pleased to see these wines become part of our growing range of locally sourced products," said Dave Peek, wine buyer.
The wines include two from the Essex-based Sandyford winery, a rosé from Hampshire producer Wickham, a white wine from Sussex vineyard Carr Taylor and a sparkling wine from Welsh winery Glyndwr.
"Despite a challenging vintage last year I am confident that English and Welsh wines have a bright future," said Peek. "Improved site selection, increased investment in the vineyards and wineries combined with developing consumer interest in this category are all positive signs."
