Murphy brings three decades’ fmcg experience to the role

William Jackson Food Group has appointed Paul Murphy as CEO.

Effective 28 April, Murphy joins the business from Associated British Foods, where he spent 22 years in a variety of senior roles, culminating as international markets MD for Twinings.

Murphy would bring “a wealth of commercial, strategic and leadership expertise” to the role, said William Jackson Food Group.

Prior to joining ABF, where he oversaw a raft of fmcg brands including Dorset Cereals, Jordans, Ryvita and Speedibake, Murphy also worked for Reckitt Benckiser and Bacardi.

His experience spans direct to consumer, business to business and retail, all of which are channels covered by businesses within the William Jackson portfolio, which owns Wellocks, Jacksons Bakery, Lottie Shaw’s, Belazu and Miso Tasty.

The sixth-generation family business was founded by William Jackson in Hull in 1851. Today, the group employs approximately 2,000 people, and is headquartered in Hessle, East Yorkshire.

“There’s a clear alignment between Paul’s expertise and the requirements here at William Jackson Food Group and we’re so excited to welcome him to the business,” said William Jackson Food Group chair Sonya Eastaugh.

“What makes Paul’s appointment even more special is the personal significance of his return to a company with strong roots in Hull.

“Beginning his career at Reckitt Benckiser in Hull, Paul has expressed his excitement at reconnecting with the area where his professional journey began and contributing to its legacy through our family business.”

Murphy added: “It’s an honour to be joining this proud, family-owned business and I’m looking forward to spending my first weeks in the role getting to know the businesses, my colleagues and the family.”
