Convenience retail supplier Willowbrook Foods has recalled five salad products containing bacon amid fears of listeria contamination.
Budgens, Supervalu, Centra, Mace, Nisa, Lidl and Spar retail stores were all hit by the scare.
The supplier has recalled the 150g Willowbrook Fine Food Chicken and Bacon Caesar salad stocked in Budgens and Nisa Retail with a use by date of 25 April.
Other products being recalled include the 150g Fresh For You Chicken and Bacon Caesar salad with a use by date of 25 April stocked in Supervalu, Centra and Mace in Northern Ireland.
Lidl’s Northern Irish stores were also affected, having stocked the 220g Deluxe Potato Salad with Bacon with use by dates between 28-29 April and the 205g Meadow Fresh Caesar Style Salad Bowl with use by dates between 25-26 April.
Spar’s 150g Prepared Chicken and Bacon Salad stocked in its Northern Irish stores with a use by date of 25 April is also being recalled.
No other Willowbrook, Supervalu, Centra, Mace, Lidl, Nisa or Spar products are known to be affected.
“Willowbrook Foods is recalling the above products. Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling these products,” said Willowbrook Foods.
“If you have bought any of the above products, do not eat them. Instead, return them to the store from where they were bought for a full refund.”
Symptoms caused by Listeria moncytogenes can be similar to flu and include high temperature, sickness, diarrhoea, chills and muscle aches and pains.
