The UK wine market will grow over the next five years but at a slower rate, predicts new research.
Figures compiled for wine exhibition organiser Vinexpo forecast five-year growth of just over 6%, a marked slowdown from the 12% uplift in UK wine sales since 2003.
The UK has become the world's biggest importer of still and sparkling wine, according to the research. By 2012, total UK consumption is forecast to reach 155 million cases.
Nielsen figures [MAT 4 October 2008] showed wine volumes to be flat.
