The UK’s largest specialist wine retailer, Majestic Wine, is launching 177 stores on to the Just Eat app in the run-up to Christmas.

Millions of shoppers using the Just Eat app will be able to order from the retailer’s range across key categories including Champagne, Sparkling, Bordeaux, Loire, Italy, New Zealand and Australia. Majestic’s own-label Chosen By Majestic and Definition By Majestic wines will also be available to buy through Just Eat, alongside a growing selection of premium spirits and beers.

The collaboration means Majestic customers can now benefit from rapid delivery of their purchases via Just Eat, as well as Deliveroo and Uber Eats.

“Our mission at Majestic is to help people discover and buy wines, beers and spirits they will love, and this exciting new partnership with Just Eat will allow us to serve even more customers, whenever they need us, through the rapidly growing on-demand channel,” said Maria Lopez, general manager, Majestic Commercial.

“We already know that our customers value the ability to shop the stock available at their local Majestic stores in real time, with flexible choices for same-day and next-day delivery or collection. Our combination with Just Eat adds another hugely convenient option into the mix, which we know our customers will love. We’re delighted to be working with Just Eat and we’re looking forward to rolling the partnership out across the UK – just in time to help our customers top up their wine racks and fridges during the Christmas period.”

The retailer said across the financial year 2023/24, e-commerce sales accounted for more than 20% of retail revenues, which were driven in part by the growing popularity of its Shop Local proposition. The offering allows customers to shop the stock available at their local Majestic store, in real time, for free collection in less than four hours or next-day home delivery via their local store’s dedicated delivery van.

Majestic operates a fleet of more than 200 vans across the UK, allowing each of its 209 shops to deliver directly.

The Just Eat partnership launched today from an initial 43 Majestic stores, including 16 shops across London, two in Edinburgh, and branches in Sheffield, Derby, Abingdon and High Wycombe. The rest will be added “before Christmas”.

“As our daily lives become busier, shoppers are increasingly tapping into on-demand delivery to meet their convenience needs,” said Amy Heather, director of strategic partnerships at Just Eat. “We’re delighted to add Majestic’s selection of quality wines, beers and spirits to the growing range of retailers we’re bringing to Just Eat’s customers. Whether the need is for a weekly shop or last-minute gift giving, as the nation’s biggest fast delivery network, Just Eat is proud to lead this innovation and offer more choice to our customers across the UK.”

Majestic unveiled a partnership with Uber Eats in August, anticipating that 177 stores would offer the service by this month. Under the terms of the partnership, Majestic became Uber Eats’ “headline partner for drinks”, featuring permanently at the top of the alcohol section of the rapid delivery app.

Its partnership with Deliveroo stretches back further, to early 2020.
