Another new packaging format is to hit UK wine shelves as agent PLB prepares to launch a new bag-in-tube wine from Italy.
Piccini, a Chianti-based producer, has developed Piccanti, a soft, fruity style of red wine made predominantly from Sangiovese.
The wine comes in packaging, which is designed to work in the same way as bag-in-box, but can be carried over the shoulder like a handbag.
This year a flurry of new formats have hit the wine shelves, from the pre-filled Tulip glass to Arniston Bay's new resealable pouches.
"We think Piccanti could become the next Italian must-have accessory - in the wine world, at any rate," said PLB brand manager Paul Shelton.
"The packaging is bright and funky, the wine is fabulous and it's much more practical for picnics and outdoor events than traditional bag-in-box."
Piccanti will be launched into Asda soon, priced at £16.99 for three litres.
