South African winemaker Winecorp is closing down its London-based European division and transferring the UK sales and distribution of its wines to Private Liquor Brands. Adrian Garforth, managing director of the European operation, is now in the process of transferring the business to the company's headquarters in the Cape. He and two others working in the UK office will then be out of jobs. A spokesman for Winecorp said the closure was part of a long term strategic review. Private Liquor Brands has a 10% stake in Winecorp and is already handling its Spier brand and own label wines in the UK. It will be adding the Longridge, Bayview, Capelands and Savannha ranges. Bruce Barraclough, who is heading up the development of PLB's South African business, said: "They have decided to put everything through us, which gives our branded business greater strength and will help us create a one-stop shop for South African wines." {{DRINKS }}
