FSD Retailer Awards 2025 Group

A Nottingham deli has been named Retailer of the Year at the 2025 Farm Shop & Deli Retailer Awards.

Delilah Fine Foods took the top honour at the awards ceremony yesterday (6 April), held at the Farm Shop & Deli Show at the NEC, Birmingham.

In addition, Delilah took the awards for Delicatessen of the Year and regional retail winner for the Midlands.

Held in partnership with The Grocer and championed by Fieldfare, the awards are an annual celebration of Britain’s independent specialist food and drink retailers.

Hundreds of entries were studied by expert judges from across the industry, who looked at factors such as the achievements retailers have made in the independent sector and testimonials from suppliers and customers. Judges made secret visits to shortlisted businesses in January and February before selecting the winners.

The judges described Delilah as “stunning’ and “an inspiration to all in retail, hospitality, and service”.

“The commitment to the team and standard of training is to be admired,” said one judge.

Another stated: “The sustainability element is evident with the promotion of refilling using customers.”

Founded in 2005 as a small store on Middle Pavement in Nottingham, Delilah is now based in Victoria Street in a former bank five times the size of the original site.

“The space may be bigger, with more people needed to run it, but the ethos is the same: great service, passionate people, great products and ingredients both to buy and to eat in,” stated the business.

It had been a privilege to see the hard work and endeavour of talented retailers being acknowledged, said chairman of judges Nigel Barden. “Despite it being a cautious retail market, it’s still been another great year for the Farm Shop & Deli Awards, and we are grateful for the quality of the entries and gratified busy retailers still found time to take part.

“Twenty-five extra visits were made to ensure there was no doubt as to who our winners were to be, and this included putting some of our online retailers through their paces,” he added.

Alongside awards champion Fieldfare, a family-owned loose frozen food supplier, the awards are supported by Cotswold Fayre, Cress Co, Diverse Fine Food, Fabulous Farm Shops, the Farm Retail Association, GoJute and The Gorgeous Food Company.

The Farm Shop & Deli Show is part of The UK Food & Drink Shows, which unites four events under one roof and covers the complete food and drink supply chain. The show is taking place from Monday 7 April to Wednesday 9 April at NEC, Birmingham.
