Coca-Cola Enterprises has finally announced plans to make use of its licensing agreement with Disney in the UK, with the launch of a range of drinks for kids, Winnie the Pooh Roo Juice.
The drinks giant's global deal with Disney is a year old and it has already used the characters in other countries. However, it appears to have been saving them here for the launch of what is only its second UK product specifically for children. It relaunched the first Capri-Sun, which it acquired in 1997 last year.
The new arrivals signal CCE's recognition that it needs to find new soft drink markets as cola-based drinks struggle to maintain market share. The juice drinks sector is booming.
The company has undertaken "considerable" research with parents and health groups to tailor the range to the British market.
Targeting very young children, the Pooh drinks packs feature pictures of the dim but loveable bear and his friends from the Hundred Acre Wood, together with quizzes.
There are three apple-based flavours Autumn Apple which contains grape juice, Winterberry with blackcurrant and Summerberry with strawberry. All contain fruit juice, water and natural flavourings and have no added sugar, sweeteners, preservatives, colours or artificial flavourings.
The 180ml Tetra-wedge packs are designed to be difficult for small hands to spill. One litre Tetra packs are also available.
