Heineken strengthens Czech position
Amsterdam: Heineken has acquired Czech brewer Drinks Union, which makes Zlatopramen, Breznak, Louny and Dacicky beers. It has a production capacity of 0.9 million hectolitres and employs 523 staff. Heineken said the deal would strengthen its number three position in the Czech Republic by increasing its market share to 12% and its volume to 1.9 million hectolitres. "Our geographical presence, with our strong, balanced portfolio of regional and national brands will allow us to extract greater value in the Czech market," said Nico Nusmeier, Heineken's regional president for central and eastern Europe.
