German food importer Albers GmbH has been named the world’s best steak producer after winning the inaugural World Steak Challenge. The winning steak was a 30-month, 450-day grain-fed steak from a Wagyu cross reared on Willow Tree Farm by Jack’s Creek in Australia. Frank Albers (pictured left) collected the prize at the London event, which is run by The Grocer’s sister title Global Meat News.
