Ye Olde Oak will go head-to-head with Peperami next year when it rolls out a snacking peperoni.
The 100% pork peperoni will initially be sold exclusively in Morrisons in foil twin-packs (rsp: £1), and merchandised in clip strips in the beer aisle. The launch follows the roll-out earlier this year of a ready-to-eat foil-packed frankfurter with a three-year shelf life, developed for British army ration packs.
The Struik Foods brand has focused recent NPD on expanding its sausage portfolio, launching 10-packs of pre-cooked American-style hotdogs in Asda and Morrisons last weekend. It also recently rolled out a smoked pork sausage ring, designed to be eaten hot or cold, into Asda.
