The range comprises a mix of serves one and serves two meals

Yo has launched a quartet of Japanese-inspired frozen meals into Tesco.

The range comprises a duo of serves one meals – Chicken Teriyaki, Korean Style BBQ Beef (both rsp: £3.75/380g) – plus Chicken Katsu (rsp: £3.50/260g) and Chicken Katsu Bao Bun Kit (rsp: £3.75/460g), both of which serve two people.

The meals have hit Tesco freezers, joining Yo’s existing range of chilled sushi and poke bowls, also available in stores.

Their orange branding took cues from the plates on Yo’s restaurant conveyor belts to ensure “instant recognition in the freezer aisle”, according to the brand.

“We’re thrilled to be building on our long-standing partnership with Tesco and expanding our offering with this exciting new frozen range,” said Yo Commercial director Mark Turner.

“Bringing the bold flavours and iconic dishes our customers love into even more homes across the UK is a huge milestone for Yo.

“We can’t wait for shoppers to experience the same great taste and quality they’d expect in our restaurants – now straight from their own freezers.”

This isn’t Yo’s first attempt to diversify into ready meals.

The casual dining chain previously teamed up with Kerry Foods to launch a range of chilled ready meals into Tesco in 2021. However, the range had completely disappeared from the retailer in less than two years.
