Yorkshire craft gin brand Masons is rolling out .to 358 Co-op stores across the UK.
The gin, flavoured with juniper, lime and orange rind, won its place on The Co-op’s shelves after Masons sales rose 28% over the Christmas period, according to the brand.
The listing marked “a real achievement” for Masons, said founder Karl Masons. “We work hard all year round to produce a gin that truly embodies the Yorkshire spirit, so to be able to reach out to more of the community is wonderful.”
The tipple is billed as having “a peppery finish with subtle fennel fragrance on the nose”, with “bold citrus flavours, plenty of cardamom and green apple”.
The Co-op this month upped its gin range with a selection of six regional brands, including North Yorkshire’s Masons.
The retailer was “continuing to see huge growth in sales of gin as the nation’s love for the spirit remains” said spirits buyer Jonathan Grey.
It comes as sales of gin are skyrocketing, up 32% (£146m) last year to £604.6m on volumes up 23.7% [Nielsen 52 w/e 30 December 2017].
