Fans of Japanese cuisine are being targeted by a new white wine from Freixenet designed to complement sushi.
Oroya, which means “a basket to transport goods from one side of the river to the other”, has been developed by Japanese wine maker Yoko Sato, using Spanish grapes and produced in Spain. The wine is described as having fruity tones of apple and peach, which are believed to offset the spice and heat of soy and ginger.
Oroya is being launched in the UK and Freixenet is now looking for distribution.
