Simon Smith has been appointed MD of The Saucy Fish Co owner Icelandic Seachill.
Smith joined Icelandic Group in 2009 as sales and marketing director. In that role, he took the lead in launching The Saucy Fish Co brand in January 2010.
He also brought together the commercial functions of Icelandic Group’s key UK businesses - Seachill, Coldwater and Icelandic UK - the company said.
Prior to joining Icelandic, Smith worked at GlaxoSmithKline, Diageo, General Mills, Häagen Dazs and Fox’s Biscuits.
“I am very aware of the strengths and opportunities that being part of Icelandic Group can provide so I’m ready to build on the integration we’ve undertaken and lead the next phase of development for Icelandic Seachill,” said Smith. He will be based in Grimsby and report to Magnus Bjarnason, president and CEO of Icelandic Group.
Bjarnason added: “This appointment not only reflects the positive impact Simon has had on the UK business in recent years, but also underpins the future strategy of Icelandic Group, which is to inspire consumers to consume more fish from a sustainable source.”
