John Wood, director of food and science at the Food and Drink Federation, will be taking early retirement in July.

Wood has been with the FDF for 34 years, directing, supervising and co-ordinating the group's Food Safety and Scientific Division.

He was responsible for the FDF's policies with regard to regulatory issues such as nutrient profiling. Wood was also actively involved in the FDF's European trade body, CIAA. His services to the food industry were rewarded with an OBE in 2002.
