Luxury grocer Fortnum & Mason has appointed Brigette Hardy as its head of food buying.
Hardy is returning to Fortnum & Mason having began her career there and is described as “a seasoned buying professional” specialising in the identification of food trends, sourcing of regional and artisan products, novel retail concepts and product innovation and development.
Her previous retail experience includes a spell at Sainsbury’s and consulting work at Waitrose and Selfridges.
Hardy will report to Tim French, Fortnum & Mason director, who said she would help drive sales across all channels.
“Food is at the heart of Fortnums’ offering and Brigette brings a wealth of food buying and product development experience from a vast array of food retailers and manufacturers,” said French.
“She will be a key driver across innovation at Fortnums, ensuring we continue to meet the diverse and everchanging needs of our customer base, through whichever channel they chose to shop.”
“I started my food career at Fortnums working in the grocery and hamper buying department, so it is a real pleasure to be welcomed back,” Hardy said.
“The store has a long and prolific history of dynamic, exciting product production and sourcing; I’m looking forward to being able to contribute to, and build upon, this incredible legacy.”
