Women in Wholesale has launched ‘WiW Male Allies’, a virtual workshop for men in the wholesale industry who wish to become better allies to female colleagues.
It comes as a new survey conducted by the group found 90% of FWD members were interested in becoming better male allies.
Of this group, 67% said they were motivated by setting a good example to other men and 50% said it was to help other women on their team progress.
The first session will take place on 1 September, and will focus on unconscious bias.
It will be hosted by Chris Tarquini, senior category manager at Brown-Forman and co-lead of the company’s Growing Remarkable & Outstanding Women ERG Committee.
The guest speaker for the first session will be Ayman Nasreldin, an executive coach who has 22 years of corporate experience in the fmcg industry.
“Male allies are people who are willing to advocate and speak up in support of gender equality,” said Women in Wholesale chairperson Clare Bocking.
“They are vital in helping to create a pathway to a more inclusive workforce that helps to attract and retain female employees.”
