Wrigley UK boss Hamish Thomson is leaving the role to take up a global position in the business.
The Wrigley Company, a subsidiary of Mars, has announced Thomson will be replaced by Mark Andrews, who is currently employed by Mars’ petcare business in China.
Previously, Andrews worked for United Biscuits in the UK in a variety of marketing roles, and joined Mars in 2001. His positions have included brand leader and general manager in Europe and China, where Mars says he has delivered “significant growth” for the company.
“Mark has a great record of running businesses within Mars and I know he’ll do a great job in the UK for Wrigley,” said Wrigley regional president for Europe Ian Burton. “Our UK business is in growth and has a great team for Mark to lead to even better things in the years ahead.”
Thomson, who will be based in Australia in his new role, was born and raised in New Zealand, where he worked in advertising before moving into marketing and sales positions. Like his successor, he worked for Mars Petcare before joining Wrigley to 2005.
Sales of Wrigley’s top-selling gum line, Extra, have risen 8.3% year-on-year to £186.4m [Nielsen 52 w/e 12 October 2013].
