Master of Wine and wine director of Hatch Mansfield This new well-presented offering follows in the footsteps of so many Rosemount wines in delivering a fresh, squeaky clean fruity wine that just falls short of expectations. We are not looking at a great Riesling here, but a light to medium bodied wine, with plenty of ripe fruit flavours, no oak and fresh limey acidity on the finish. This dry style is a good introduction to the variety and will doubtless sell well behind the gargantuan Southcorp marketing budget, but it lacks any complexity. This Rosemount example will certainly help attract new enthusiasts for this most noble of grapes. Rating out of 25  17 Gary McCall Managing director of Poulter Partners There is an understated confidence about this Riesling. The elegant bottle reflecting the "convention" in the Riesling category is enhanced by the simple yet impactful labelling, featuring the distinctive Rosemount diamond. My one concern is that there are so many negatives associated with the variety, even though they are more Old World issues, that perhaps the crisp and dry nature of this wine should be highlighted to a greater degree, as should the new sales message. Rosemount does enjoy a good reputation and I assume it will be relying on this consumer franchise to gain the trial required to break down potential barriers. Rating out of 25  18 Carol Du Cann Senior buyer (beers, wines and spirits) at Alldays A Germanic looking bottle, though I'm unsure whether that is good or bad. It could attract existing riesling drinkers but equally could put off potential customers, particularly at £6.99. The wine has an attractive nose. It is fruity and aromatic and mercifully free of the harsh acidity of some German Rieslings, and it has a lovely finish. To my taste, it is medium dry, rather than crisp and dry', as described on its label. This could mislead a customer unfamiliar with the grape. Time will tell whether the history associated with Riesling will help or hinder this wine. Rating out of 25  15 Total score out of 100  68 {{DRINKS }}
