Poundland announces next 19 stores to get frozen and chilled ‘shops in shops’

Poundland has announced the next 19 stores to get frozen and chilled ‘shops in shops’.

The stores across the north east, Midlands and south east are to get the variety discounter’s new frozen and chilled ranges between now and the end of July. Another 27 are to get the treatment by September. 

Poundland first brought the frozen and chilled offering to a handful shops last year, before beginning a rollout to more in March. However, the plans were stalled by the pandemic, with Poundland focusing instead on keeping as many stores as possible open.

Stores involved in the recently relaunched project get an aisle of fridges and freezers stocking 400 products, including branded items such as Bernard Matthews chicken breasts and Birds Eye cod fillets. The range has been developed in partnership with Yorkshire-based frozen food retailer Fultons Foods, with a focus on ‘everyday’ meals.

“The response from shoppers to the new ranges has been fantastic and our team is ready to work flat out to bring customers up and down the country amazing value in chilled and frozen foods,” said Poundland transformation director Mat Ankers.

The addition of 46 stores by September will bring the number of Poundlands with frozen and chilled ‘shops in shops’ to 67.

These are the latest 21 named stores.
