The Association of Convenience Stores has promoted Shane Brennan to public affairs director.
Brennan, who moves up from the role of public affairs manager, will be responsible for growing the association's profile and influencing the government, parliament and media communities.
He has worked his way up the ranks since joining the ACS in October 2002 as public affairs executive. He was later appointed public affairs and communications manager where he was instrumental in leading ACS policy in areas such as alcohol legislation, the Competition Commission groceries inquiry and Sunday trading.
"Shane has been critical to ACS's lobbying of government, and keeping the media and our members informed over the past six years," said ACS chief executive James Lowman. "He has become a key member of our team and now, as public affairs director, he will take strategic responsibility for our public affairs and communications functions."
