How did you get to where you are today? Luck and a small amount of judgement. I did an engineering degree and it was great at teaching me that I didn't want to be an engineer. I had worked for a company during university that had got me into thinking about sales and marketing. I ended up on the graduate training scheme with United Biscuits. My previous roles have included brand manager for Ribena at GlaxoSmithKline and account management at Unilever. I've also worked as brand director for Lara Croft: Tomb Raider at Eidos and as international brand manager for Lego Star Wars. At Tiger Beer I'm responsible for the development of Tiger Beer across all marketing channels.

What was the best decision you have made in your career and why? Joining Tiger Beer. The opportunity to join Tiger was one that I couldn't overlook. I now spend time focusing on driving the brand as opposed to writing presentations for internal purposes! My task is to take Tiger Beer to the next level, widening the target audience while at the same time, reinforcing the brand's core Asian roots.

Who do you most admire in the grocery industry? Richard Reed, Adam Balon and Jon Wright - the founders of Innocent Drinks. They've built a fantastic brand by sticking to their principles.

Do you have a mentor and how have they helped you in your career? No, but over the years I've built up a number of good friends in the industry whose opinions I trust.

What is the most important piece of information you have ever been told? If in doubt, ask.

What is the most rewarding part of your job? Tasting our products!

What is the one thing that you could not do your job without? A telephone. I'm in danger of sounding old, but too many people send an email and then tick a task off their to do list - pick up the phone, it makes things happen a lot more quickly.

If you could start your career again, what would you do differently and why? I would have got into the brewing industry earlier.

What advice would you give to someone starting out in the industry today? Always be aware of your impact on others and learn from their reaction. I'm in danger of sounding old, but too many people send an email and then tick a task off their to do list - pick up the phone, it makes things happen a lot more quickly.

What do you like doing when you are not working? I spend a lot of time racing and sailing dinghies and more recently, windsurfing.
