Convenience foods manufacturer Greencore Group has appointed three new category managing directors following a restructure.
Over the past three years, Greencore Cakes and Desserts has been run as a single business with Greencore Frozen Foods and the company's foodservice operations, but these are being split.
Paul Rhodes has become managing director of Greencore Cakes & Desserts, which produces a range of cakes including novelty cakes and sponges. Rhodes was previously commercial director and has worked at Greencore since 2001.
He joined Greencore's Hull bakery from Heinz where he was general manger for chilled and frozen desserts for the company's Marks and Spencer account. Prior to Heinz, he worked for Bass as general manager for Grolsch UK.
David Gallagher, operations director at Greencore Cakes & Desserts, is now managing director of Greencore Frozen Foods, which produces a variety of Yorkshire pudding goods and frozen desserts.
Gallagher joined Greencore in 1986 as a management trainee, progressing to factory manager of Greencore's former vinegar brewery in Staffordshire. He moved to the grocery division in Selby, as site director before working as operations director of Greencore Cakes & Desserts in Hull.
Meanwhile, Neil Pinder has been appointed managing director of Greencore's foodservice category. He joins from Grampian Country Food Group where he was also managing director of the foodservice division. The company said the three new units had been created because of the scale of the businesses and ambitions for growth.
Last week, Patrick Coveney, chief financial officer for Greencore, told The Grocer the group was looking to bring its convenience foods model to the US and other parts of Europe.
