Leatherhead Food International has appointed Dr Paul Berryman as the new chief executive.
Previously LFI's research director, Dr Berryman replaces John Bevington, who retired as CEO after six years in October 2007. In his former role, he was responsible for 15 government research projects, including 10 for the Food Standards Agency.
"Paul has the right mix of scientific, regulatory and business skills to lead LFI," said LFI chairman Dr Alistair Penman. "He has a great track record in developing strategic plans and has excellent links in the food industry, government and academia."
