What was your first-ever job? Waiter and cocktail bartender at an American-themed restaurant. One highlight was singing a solo Happy Birthday to a table of 20 inebriated punters.
What was your worst job interview? Getting the job at the American-themed restaurant wasn’t the best outcome of an interview.
What was the first music single you bought? Chicago - Hard Habit to Break. I can’t say that this was my proudest moment.
How do you describe your job to your mates? I sell sweets…
What is the most rewarding part of your job? Helping to support someone else’s development and learning.
What is the least rewarding part? Most administrative tasks are pretty laborious.
What is your motto in life? Expect the unexpected.
What’s your nickname? Following a recent team-building event I’ve now been given the title ‘Chatty Matty’ by the Wrigley management team - harsh but fair.
If you were allowed one dream perk, what would it be? To trade in the company car for a company yacht would be nice.
What’s your favourite movie? Heat - at the time of release it was the only film where Robert De Niro and Al Pacino appeared in the same scenes. I think Michael Mann is a fantastic director.
What has been your most embarrassing moment? I used to swim competitively and after one particularly strong dive it turned out that I’d left my trunks - rather than my competitors - trailing in my wake.
Do you have any phobias? You wouldn’t catch me riding a horse - I see a horse as something like a motorbike with a mind of its own.
If you could pick a celebrity to join your staff, who would it be and why? Eddie Izzard - for me his stand-up personifies the Skittles brand. I imagine he could help us with our TV creative as well as ideas to entertain our 3.1 million Facebook fans.
If you could change one thing in the grocery industry what would it be? For all of us to collectively encourage, reward and celebrate taking more measured risk. We’re more likely to see revolution and not evolution as a result.
What luxury would you have on your desert island? A Kindle - I’d hope to be rescued before I’d read all 3,500 books.
What animal best reflects your personality and why? A dolphin - I love water, I’m pretty intuitive and I have a passion for working within a group.
