What was your worst job interview? I once went for a job as a schoolteacher. I was very nervous and thought that the only way to break the ice was to tell a joke... nobody laughed. But I got the job!
What was the first music single you bought? Aladdin Sane by David Bowie. It's awesome and I've still got it today.
How do you describe your job to your mates? Scrumptious! As MD of probably the fastest-growing snack company in the UK I tell all my friends to buy Burts crisps... but they already do, of course.
What is the most rewarding part of your job? Seeing how dedicated all our employees are to providing quality crisps from Devon. They really do care and that is so rewarding.
What is the least rewarding part? Giving my salary to my wife! Ha ha.
What is your motto in life? Work hard, play hard. Well, there's not so much playing now at my age, but I think you should always have fun along the way.
What's your nickname? When I was MD of Ilchester Cheese it was Mr Cheese, so I suspect I've now become Mr Crisp!
If you were allowed one dream perk what would it be? Olivia Newton-John bringing me my morning coffee every day in her Grease outfit!
What's your favourite movie and why? Grease... need I say more?
What has been the most embarrassing moment in your life? While driving once with an M&S buyer I hit someone else's car in the car park of a really classy hotel. It was the only car in the car park and there were loads of empty spaces about. I felt really stupid and highly embarrassed.
Do you have any phobias? Yes, I hate snakes.
If you could pick a celebrity to join your staff who would it be and why? All the Monty Python team because they seem to have as much fun as we have at Burts.
If you could change one thing in the grocery industry what would it be? For everyone to have more fun and work together after all, it's in everyone's best interest.
What luxury would you have on your desert island? Burts Pesto flavoured crisps and a bottle of cider.
