What was your first-ever job? At the local DIY store. I really enjoyed it and, when you're 16, £1.80 an hour seems like a fair wage.

What was your worst job interview? There have been a few but my worst was probably telling a big accountancy firm I wanted to apply for a job in their risk management division because I liked taking risks. It turned out skydiving wasn't what they had in mind.

What was the first music single you bought? Can't remember the first single but my first CD was the Buster film soundtrack.

How do you describe your job to your mates? If I want to keep it simple I tell them we make and sell natural gum and mints. If I want to sex it up a bit I might say we're a start-up business building a natural confect-ionery brand from scratch.

What is the most rewarding part of your job? Walking into a shop and seeing a Peppersmith product alongside other brands. This is even better when I enquire how it is selling and I get an enthusiastic response.

What is the least rewarding part? As a start-up it's all about agonising over the pennies. We need to invest to grow, but we need to grow sales first to generate the funds.

What is your motto in life? Keep going. I like to keep pushing on, knowing that the satisfaction of getting where you want is worth the effort.

What's your nickname? Stevo seems to have stuck.

If you were allowed one dream perk what would it be? A desk with a sea view.

What's your favourite movie and why? The Natural starring Robert Redford about a man who nearly lost it all but found a way to achieve his dream.

What has been the most embarrassing moment in your life? I once did a big presentation and got to the end and asked if anyone had any questions, to which the first response was "Do you know your flies are undone?"

Do you have any phobias? I am not the best flyer.

Which celebrity would you pick to join your staff? Lassie. It'd be good knowing we never have to worry about getting trapped down a well or in a burning building.

If you could change one thing in grocery what would it be? Being able to have more time with the buyers.

What luxury would you have on your desert island? My iPod would be missed.

What animal best reflects your personality and why? A platypus; bursts of activity punctuated with moments of contemplation.
