Steve Pappas is set to replace Francis Ball as managing director of the UK arm of US C&C giant Costco.
A spokeswoman said that Pappas would take up his new role in the next couple of weeks. He has worked for the company for a number of years in roles including country manager for Korea.
Ball announced in June that he would retire as managing director of Costco UK this month (The Grocer, 24 June, p21). He had been MD since December 2004 and joined the company in 1993 as trading director.
In April he was named as chairman of the Federation of Wholesale Distributors, replacing Rodney Hunt, MD of the Today's Group.
This week Ball joined creative agency Monitor Creative as a non-executive director. Moray Newberry, MD, said: "Francis' experience will significantly increase our competitive advantage."
