Irish supermarket chain Superquinn has appointed Sheena Forde as its new purchasing director.
Forde replaces Tom Nolan who left the company last month after just a year in the role. She joins Superquinn from Asda where she has worked for the past 15 years. During her time there she held the positions of director of internet shopping for Asda, food director for Wal-Mart's Seiyu subsidiary in Japan and buying unit director for grocery, where she was responsible for a team of 50.
Superquinn has restructured and expanded its trading team and, as part of that, in her new role Forde will be responsible for three new category buying teams - fresh foods, led by category manager Maria O'Connor; staple grocery, dairy and frozen, led by category manager Bridget Brant; and impulse grocery, alcohol and non-food products, led by category manager Ciara McClafferty.
The group added that each of the category buying teams would have between ten and 13 dedicated buyers, planners and Masterdata administration staff.
The whole trading team would be led by trading director James Wilson who joined Superquinn in May this year from Musgrave SuperValu-Centra.
